The Bop Bag

The benefits of including a bop bag or bag of air in play therapy are numerous for client and therapist. It provides an environment for the release of emotions that are typically not allowed to be expressed in other settings.
First, it allows for a “target” or alternative point to effectively redirect anger and aggression displayed by the child, away from the therapist or another subject.
The bop bag allows insight to emotions, aggression and ideas including family member loss, parental job loss or divorce, which all may contribute to behavioral issues. Further, because this product is constructed to withstand therapeutic and indoor aggressive play, thereby, diminishing concern for popping it.
The bop bag is also popular as a 'hugging' or 'calming' resource in the pay room as some children like to cuddle or lie on it.
The bop bag I have in my room has the ability for children to draw on it’s surface with specialised markers . Allowing children an opportunity to draw on this provides them with a blank canvas to express how they feel in a new and creative way.
